Iowa Lottery
The Iowa Lottery was created in April of 1985 with tickets going on sale in late August of that year. It proved immediately popular with 6.4 million tickets sold in the first week. It is a chartered member of the Multi-State Lottery Association and allows state residents to play Powerball and Mega Millions. Since its inception, the Iowa Lottery has donated almost $2 billion to a wide variety of good causes in the areas of agriculture, tourism, education and recreation.
