Kentucky Lottery
Kentucky Lottery
Lotteries have a long history in Kentucky with the first authorised game taking place in 1792 in order to raise funds for the building of a church. The modern version was voted through almost 100 years later in 1989 after 60% of Kentuckians voted in favour. In its first week, ticket proceeds reached over $5 million -since then, $4.6 billion has been raised with $2.9 billion going to various educational projects around the state.
