Louisiana Lottery

The Louisiana Lottery was established in 1991 as a means of raising money without increasing tax rates. All of its games are managed by the Louisiana Lottery Corporation with 53% being set aside for prize money and 35% going to the State Treasury. A sizeable proportion of these funds are channelled to the Minimum Foundation Program, which donates to projects in education and the Department of Health and Hospitals Office.
