Oregon Lottery
The Oregon Lottery was created in 1984 following an amendment to the state constitution. It launched a year later with one draw-based game and instant scratch-cards. Presently, all draw-based games are multi-jurisdictional and include Powerball and Megabucks. The Oregon lottery was established on the proviso that a substantial amount of ticket proceeds went to good causes. As of 2012, more than $5 billion has been distributed to projects in education, economic development as well as natural resources. An additional $50 million has also been donated to problem gaming treatment programs.
