Vermont Lottery

The Vermont Lottery was voted through in a state referendum in 1977 with the aim of generating revenue for the welfare of state residents. It is overseen by one of the smallest lottery staffs of any state in the US who are supervised by a panel of five commissioners. Vermont is also a Tri-State Lottery member along with Maine and New Hampshire which means that it can offer the Megabucks game. Net ticket profits were distributed to a General Fund up until 1998 when it was decided that all money should be channelled to the state’s Education Fund.
