Czech Republic Lottery

The Czech Lottery dates back to the late 1940s and was originally run by state operator, Staska. However, following the currency reform of 1953, all types of betting were made illegal throughout the country.

As a result, illegal gambling flourished to such a degree that the Communist Government of the time were forced to relent. As a response, in 1956 they set up a new operator called Saszka which introduced the still popular Sportka Lottery.
