The Kansas Lottery was created in 1986 after a public vote which led to the passing of the Kansas Lottery Act 1987. Soon after, tickets went on sale throughout the state generating $7 million in the first week alone. Due to the popularity, numerous instant games were soon introduced which also drew a great deal of interest. All games are administered by the Kansas Lottery Commission which is responsible for distributing funds to good causes. Since 1987 more than $1,000,000,000 has been generated, of which 45% has been channelled to a vast array of projects.
